2 Workshops and an Opening

I am excited to announce a few events on the horizon for 2024. First, Flora in Focus is a group show that will be on display from January 10th-March 9th at the Harrington Gallery within the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton. Next, I have been asked to lead not one, but two different painting workshops this April and June. The first workshop will involve gouache painting methods. The second will be an overview on my approach to painting in abstraction, with the chance to try out painting in abstraction yourself. See below for more info on these fun upcoming events!

Reception Saturday, 2/3/23: Flora in Focus

Spearheaded and launched by accomplished watercolorist Meghana Mitagotri, Flora in Focus will showcase floral themed artwork by 10 local artists. Come explore the Harington Gallery to see a breadth of 80 different artworks, from hyper-realistic to non-representational, and many styles in between. The reception for this show will be held on 2/3/24 from 1-3pm at the Firehouse Art Center in Pleasanton. Light refreshments will be provided. See a write up on this show in the patch here

Show Dates: January 10th to March 9th

Reception: Saturday, February 3, 1:00 - 3:00pm

Gallery Hours: Open Thursdays 12-4pm, Fridays 2-6pm, and Saturdays 11-3pm

Workshop 1: Gouache Painting Methods

Join me for a 4 hour gouache painting workshop. We will start off with an overview on the medium, then we will paint one of my existing 3’’x3’’ paintings together step by step. After that, participants will get to paint their own reference photo, or follow along as I paint a new piece from a photo reference. After a short break, we will venture out into Bothwell park to create gouache painting en plein aire. At the end of the workshop, we will return inside to do a quick discussion on successes and challenges of this often unfamiliar medium.

Date: Saturday, 4/6/24, 12-4pm

Venue: Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore

2466 8th St #4604, Livermore, CA 94550

Workshop 2: An Artist’s Approach to Abstraction

Learn about the process I take toward painting in abstraction, from initial inspiration, to sketchbook drafting, to final oil on canvas. Try creating an abstract expressionist, geometric, cubist, or biomorphic abstract art piece.

Date: Thursday, June 20 2024, 6:30-8pm at the East Valley Arts Center in San Jose

5301 McKee Rd, San Jose CA

I am also thinking about hosting an ‘Open Studio’ at my home with the Tri-Valley Artists Open Studios this May. Stay tuned for more info on this!
